Purpose fuels passion. So, to live a life of passion and fulfillment it’s important to start with the simple question: Why?
In retrospect, why does one do anything? We all take actions with reasons behind them, conscious or not. We think thoughts with reason. We feel emotions with reason. And with these actions, thoughts, and feelings come responses and reactions. And these reactions/responses are what make up every moment in our life, which is all we really have. Moments. One after another, our life is made up of moments.
Think of these moments as currency. Your moments make up your life, so you have to spend them wisely. Spend them purposefully, passionately, and consciously. It’s your life, and it's up to you to align and show up for yourself. It’s up to you to seek that fulfillment that’ll keep you going. It’s up to you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Where does that start? With purpose.
Start by knowing this for certain: you have a purpose. You have a reason for being here & now. You have lived a life up to this point that is unique solely to you. You see the world in your very own perspective based on the experiences that have shaped you. Nobody is you, and that is your greatest power.
Knowing your purpose isn’t about answering a magical question that I’m going to ask you in this article. It’s not something you can take a pop quiz on. It’s a combination of factors based on you as an individual and your personal life experience. And it’s up to you to look within and embrace all that you are. I believe that’s how you find your purpose.
A pattern you’ll start to notice in my content is that a lot of my beliefs stem from a lot of self-reflection. The truth is that in spending time with myself, I have learned some of my greatest lessons, and I have answered some of my deepest questions. We often underestimate the power of oneself, and when it comes to fulfilling your purpose, it’s ever so important to hone in on that power and listen to your intuition.
It Won’t Happen Overnight
I believe we find our purpose within a combination of lessons, experiences, and perspectives. That being said, all of these things take time to nourish and grow. Think of your purpose as ever evolving. Release any pressure you’re putting on yourself to magically discover your life’s purpose from one second to the next. It takes time, trials, and tribulations.
Trust The Flow and Ebb of Life
The fact that you’re even here reading this article right now tells me that you’re on the right path. You’re asking the important questions. You’re making the effort to better your life. And sometimes, it’s important to remind ourselves that that’s enough. That we are always enough. And sometimes we need to let go and trust the universe, god, the higher self, whatever you want to call it.
This life is a constant. It’s ever changing, ever evolving, and ever leading us. We create our reality by making choices. We choose our actions, thoughts, and reactions. The rest is in the hands of whatever happens. A large part of that is conscious, but another part of that isn’t, and sometimes it’s okay to let go for a while and trust that what is meant for you will make its way to you, one way or another. Whether it's in a physical form, a thought, a sign, an epiphany, the more you let go of your ego and trust in the process, the clearer your life and your purpose will become.
The Ikigai Concept
“Ikigai” is a Japanese concept which means “a reason for being”. When I came across this idea, I thought it was an amazing way of distinguishing a balance between the spiritual and practical world to reach that sense of fulfillment through purpose we all seek. At the intersection of passions, desires, and professions we can find a balance, and it’s believed that within that balance is our purpose.
